ASUS has announced the ProArt GR1X, a compact Windows desktop designed for local AI agents and demanding creative workflows. Its main attraction is the combination of NVIDIA RTX Spark processing and up to 128GB of unified memory in a chassis measuring just 150 x 150 x 51mm.

NVIDIA RTX Spark Powers a Compact Creative Desktop

The ProArt GR1X uses NVIDIA’s RTX Spark N1X superchip, combining a Grace CPU with up to 20 cores and a Blackwell RTX GPU with up to 6,144 cores. ASUS lists up to 1 petaflop of FP4 AI performance, positioning the system for AI development, content creation, and personal agents running on Windows.

That FP4 qualification matters. The headline figure describes performance at a specific numerical precision used in AI workloads; it should not be read as a measure of general computing speed or a direct prediction of rendering performance.

Up to 128GB of Unified Memory

ASUS lists configurations with 64GB or up to 128GB of LPDDR5X unified memory. The shared memory design gives the CPU and GPU access to a common pool, making memory capacity a central part of the GR1X’s appeal.

For creators and developers, the practical question is how much of that capacity their software can use effectively. A large memory pool can help accommodate demanding projects, but it does not guarantee a particular frame rate, generation time, or level of responsiveness.

Local AI and Large Creative Workloads

In its IFA 2026 announcement, ASUS highlights support across the new RTX Spark ProArt lineup for language models with up to 120 billion parameters, 3D scenes exceeding 90GB, and 4K AI video generation.

These are manufacturer capability claims, rather than independent benchmark results. They do not establish interactive speeds for every large language model or real-time 4K video generation. Model precision, software support, and workload settings remain important when evaluating those promises.

Running suitable AI workloads locally can reduce reliance on metered cloud services and keep more processing on the device. It does not automatically make an entire workflow private or free: connected applications may still use external services, while hardware, electricity, and software can carry ongoing costs.

Cooling Designed for Extended Operation

ASUS says the GR1X is engineered for sustained 24/7 workloads. Its announced cooling system uses two fans with 218 blades in total and seven-level fan control. The company also lists Black and Silver finishes and support for up to four 4K displays.

Noise levels and sustained performance will be useful areas for independent testing, particularly for buyers planning to keep AI agents or rendering jobs running throughout the day.

Connectivity for a Creator’s Desk

The published specifications include 10Gb Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, HDMI 2.1, and four USB-C connections. Three USB-C ports support DisplayPort Alt Mode, while another supports power input. ASUS also lists M.2 NVMe PCIe 5.0/4.0 SSD storage slots.

The wired network connection could be especially useful for studios working from shared storage, although actual transfer speeds will depend on the storage system and the rest of the network.

ITD Insight

The GR1X’s most interesting feature is the amount of shared memory ASUS is bringing to a small Windows desktop. That could make it worth considering for creators exploring larger local AI models. Its value will ultimately depend on pricing, application compatibility, and measured performance in the workloads buyers actually use.
